Blog #5

 The process of writing a sound research study is much more complex than just writing out an idea that you are experimenting. Many research studies begin with a proposal where boards or universities are approving the process, which means that as a professional and technical writer we must be sound in the way that we prepare for a research study. That means writing out unique and applicable research questions. That means clearly identifying the methods and samples pertaining to your research questions. By the time you begin experimenting and researching, the only thing left should be the data you gather from the research. Nothing should come as a surprise to you after having come up with a sound research proposal. 


Thank you for taking the time to read through my posts this semester. I have enjoyed my time writing and sharing my thoughts with you.

    I forgot to say thanks to you, for sharing time working on projects with me. Thanks, it has been enjoyable and you've been very helpful! I can clearly understand by reading this post, how you've learned about the processes behind creating sound research studies. I think you're right in that the only thing left after beginning experimenting and researching, should be the data you gather. I hope you have a great end of your semester and everything goes well for you next semester!

 Plan for Revision I am quite grateful that this class is based around a research proposal and not a whole research plan because I feel behind on even just the proposal. Dylan was able to help me quite a bit on some of the ways that I can revise my outline for my research proposal. I think essentially I need to make my proposal more specific. I need to specify which types of technical writing I will be examining to connect social media to mass shooters. I need to specify which shooters in specific I will be analyzing. Why when mass shootings occur, you only see what your political view wants you to see? Research Gap

 Research Gap There were a few different gaps that I noticed when I was reading through the sources that I have found. I am still working to identify that gap that I would like to use for the research essay. I may write about the gap in the "contagion effect" and its relation to the echo chambers used in social media posts. I would also like to look at echo chambers in more depth. How prevalent are echo chambers? There is not much information on them out there, but all of these different sources that I am reading allude to them in the first place. This idea that social media only shows you what you want to see can be directly taken from the sources used in the literature review.
